Detroit defeated Columbus to end the losing streak

New York. Lucas Raymond scored a great power play goal as Detroit snapped a three-game losing streak against Columbus last night.

– We need this kind of solid play, says coach Derek Lalonde after the 4-2 win.

It was a slightly rocky start to the month for the Red Wings, losing at home to Toronto, Buffalo and Vegas, but last night they kicked off a week-long road trip at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus – and finally managed to win again.

“It was exactly the beginning of the road trip we needed and wanted,” coach Derek Lalonde tells The Detroit News.

Thus, Lucas Raymond contributed to his seventh goal of the season. In a solid game seven minutes into the second half, he received a really nice pass from hot defender Philip Hronik, and although he was basically level with the goal line and had hardly any angle at all, the 20-year-old Guttenberger managed to corner the puck.

– We scored another power play goal and that makes me happy. “We didn’t create a lot of goals in five-on-five games, so we need these kinds of powerplay goals,” notes Lalonde.

Oscar Sundqvist answered for help.

Joel Erickson Ek saw his ninth goal to give Minnesota a 5-1 lead early in the third period away against Dallas thus securing the win – everyone believed.

But fallen strands have been the subject of the NHL’s downfall and it’s happening again. The Stars scored four goals in a row and were caught up.

– It was difficult, they made a big push in the third and we just tried to survive, says Erickson Ek.

Fortunately for them, the visitors from the north eventually managed to win on penalties.

In an early game Sunday, Jacob Silverberg scored his fourth goal for Anaheim away to Winnipeg, but it didn’t help. The Jets won 5-2.

In Buffalo, first and second on defenses met. Erik Carlsson and Rasmus Dahlin have set new benchmarks in the protocol; Dahlin with two assists and Carlson with one.

He was also the first person who had the most joy when the final whistle blew, because the Sword won 6-3.

“A really good game on our part,” says coach Don Granato.

Oscar Lindblom scored his first goal as a San Jose Shark with a backhand, and Viktor Olofsson also provided an assist for the home team.

The picture that the New York Islanders have the best goaltending duo in the league was confirmed when Chicago came to Long Island last night.

Ilya Sorokin usually closes again at the UBS Arena, but this time it was his friend Semyon Varlamov who kept a clean sheet.
