Leksand coach Chali Berglund was saddened.
Mother Ellie died in a nursing home at the age of 90.
“Greetings mom and sleep tight,” he writes with a heart emoji on social media.

Chal Berglund was summoned to a meeting with Leksand on Tuesday morning.
At that time, he was fully aware that coach Björn Hellqvist would fall ill again.
Instead of being able to be at team training on Tuesday, he was with his family in Vasby.
– There will be a wake-up call on Wednesday morning so you can attend the meeting at 08:00 in Leksand. Then we will sit down and talk together about the situation and how to move forward. The timing wasn’t good with the mother, Chal Berglund says.
“Sleep soundly and peacefully”
He had just finished cooking dinner on Monday evening at Leksand when he had to get in the car and call general manager Thomas “Tjomi” Johansson.
My daughter Fanny will move to Los Angeles on Tuesday. So she told her and her son Emil that they had to go see Grandma before it was too late. After Fanny got there on Monday, my sister had to go there immediately because there were not many hours left. They called me, I was there at a quarter to ten and then she went to bed at a quarter to twelve. “I have to be with her for two hours,” Chal Berglund says.
He was close to his mother, Ellie, and they often spent time together.
– The mother lived a good life, and lived to be 90 years old. She was old and had to sleep peacefully and sweetly. She felt no pain and it went away quickly. It was a good time for her, given her age and the ailments she was beginning to develop, Chal Berglund says.
He was often involved in hockey
The beautiful picture he posted on social media is from one of their outings in the city.

-Mother always played hockey and drove the car. She and father Sven Erik co-manage the boys’ team at IFK Tumba. We had a public bus to transport the bakers and children and the clubs were on the roof. They’ve been there all the years, says Chal Berglund.
There are many hockey memories together from years spent in Djurgården, Timra, Leksand, Kloten and Tri-Kronor, among other places.
– Now I was sitting and looking at some pictures. The nice picture I saw on the phone was from 2014 when we went to the SHL again with Djurgården. She sat with a glass of champagne in her hand during the bus ride from Hovet to the bar where we were to have the party. After that, several friends drove her home so I could stay, and all my friends called her “Grandma,” Chal Berglund says.
“Can do replay”
Björn Hellqvist is on sick leave for an indefinite period, 14 years ago he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and during the summer he underwent brain surgery.
Assistant coaches Charles “Shalli” Berglund and Mikael “Shalli” Carlberg have taken over as head coach at Leksand until further notice.
– The most important thing is health and that Bjorn Hellqvist gets the time he needs. I can’t say more about the situation in the team until we discuss it together. We have four games in eight days before the national team break, and we have to make sure we perform well there and win games. “Then we have a break to maybe do a reshoot,” Chaal Berglund says.

Leksand had a difficult start in the Premier League. After four consecutive defeats, the team finished twelfth in the table.
