Djurgården beat Björklöfen – despite Videmo’s brain drop

A senseless drama in Allsvenskan hockey

Djurgården drew their semi-final against Björklöven.

They held on and won 5-4 – despite a Lucas Videmo brain drop with five minutes left in the match.

– Very fun to play. Anything can happen, says Daniel Brodin at C More.

After the opening semi-final matches between Bjorkloven and Djurgården, expectations were high ahead of the fourth match in Hovet.

Then it all happened and then some happened.

When the gunpowder smoke settled, Djurgården stood as winners after Daniel Brodin made it 5-4, his second goal of the match.

Spear penalty match

This is despite the fact that Björklöven played power in the final five minutes. Djurgården’s Lukas Videmo incurred a penalty kick for hitting the crossbar, Fredrik Weigel from Bjorkloven.

“I am amazed that a man with so much experience would do this,” says expert Harald Luckner at C. Moore.

In addition, Djurgården had to finish without goalkeeper Mathieu Galgda, who left after a collision early in the second half. Jesper Myrenberg came on instead.

Crazy introduction

The final minutes provided great drama, but the beginning was strong at least.

Gustav Possler hit it 1-0 to Björklöven after an unexpected rebound and Axel Hutchings extended the lead before the game was five minutes old.

After Stefan Elliott scored two goals within 15 seconds (a new record), the tie was drawn. After 27 seconds Nick Schelke gave Björklöven the lead again and by that time he had played over twelve minutes.

Then Daniel Brodin got in on the action and the match series was now tied at 2-2.

The two teams meet again on Monday, in Umeå.
