Djurgården has failed in Allsvenskan hockey – profiles react

A place at the bottom, but nothing has been done for Djurgården.

Many profiles believe that the battle for the SHL is already within reach this season.

“I hope it works out,” says Mats Sundin.

That Djurgården has had a disappointing start in Hockey Allsvenskan is no exaggeration.

The team, which was one game away from the SHL last spring, sits in 12th place with nearly a third of the regular season played.

Many Dif profiles don’t like what they see.

– We always want them to win games and be at the top, so there is room for improvement, says Jakob Josefsson.

– It’s sad, of course, for all Djurgården fans and former players like me, says Mats Sundin.

Kenta: “It’s up to the players”

Kenta Nelson meekly follows Djurgården.

– I follow FC Djurgården and usually watch their training several times a week. “I also follow soccer a lot,” Nelson says.

He believes in better times.

– It did not start this year, but rather many years ago. We were equally bad at the beginning of last year as well. But then we had a goalkeeper who was fantastic. But that will change, there is a good character at the club with great fans who support it.

Is it on the players or on the management?

-It’s up to the players all the time if you want to be good or not, if you have a little personality. You can’t blame the coaches all the time. When things go like this, you might have to fire some coaches, but it’s up to the players to play well, anyway.

We believe in transformation

Mats Sundin believes Djurgården will rise.

Mats Sundin.

– They already showed in the last match (the win over Tingsried) that they played better. So I hope it works out and they can fight for a SHL spot at the end of the series, says Sudden.

Jacob Josephson follows the team closely.

– I lost a lot of matches, but I hope it will be better with a new voice in the locker room and that the players take responsibility as well. There’s a lot in this group, so I’m not worried about it not coming, he says.

Djurgården is looking for a new coach, are you open to helping in any angle?

– I’m not at the stage where I have the opportunity to do that now, but my heart beats so hard for Djurgården, so if something happens in the future, you never know.

On Wednesday evening, Djurgården plays against Bjorklofen. For now, Michael Holmqvist continues as head coach.
