Isak Hein was highly praised during the season.
Tonight, the centre-back scored a goal in Djurgarden’s 2-0 win over Rijeka, which means advancing in the Champions League qualifiers.
It is the player of the match who does it, says expert Per Lagerstrom on the Sportbladet broadcast.
With seven consecutive wins behind them and a good result (2-1) in Croatia, Djurgården had a good starting position before the second leg against Rijeka.
But it was the away team that started better. In the 25th minute, Rijeka sent the ball into the goal after a free kick, but the goal was canceled due to offside.
Shortly after that came Djurgarden’s chance to score a really impressive goal, when Victor Edvardsen was flicked off in front of goal. The striker’s end went off the right post and the Stockholm team started to press more and more.
In the last minutes of the first half, Radetenak’s goalkeeper hit the crossbar from the right side.
We are making a lot of progress despite our 2-1 overall lead. We use surfaces, but we can run behind them a little more. You notice that they get really scared once we play against our midfielders. Joel Asoro noted on the Sportbladet broadcast that he’s half as good.
Top scorer in central defense: “Swallow it in”
During the start of the second half, Djurgården kicked off his dream start. After sending a corner kick into the penalty area, central defender Isaac Hain managed to score a 1-0 goal against the home team.
– The ball can be dimmed anywhere. Looks like it might have been a punishment before. Hein says it was just a matter of joining and putting it there.
Expert Per Lagerstrom paid tribute to the 23-year-old.
– The player of the match so far is the one who does it. ‘It’s not like he’s overpowering her,’ says Lagerstrom, ‘it’s just hitting her inside.’
The away team tried to press for an equaliser, but instead it was Djurgarden who had reason to celebrate once again. The Blue Stripes were converted, Emmanuel Banda got the ball outside the penalty area and the Zambian could quietly score 2-0 on the match and 4-1 on aggregate.
For the Stockholm team, the third round of qualifiers awaits in the Conference League, where they will face either Olympia Ljubljana (Slovenia) or Cepci OSK (Romania).
