Djurgården’s Miscalculation – Run Against Varberg at Allsvenskan

Another man in just over half a game.

However, Djurgården had to settle for one point away from home to Varberg – after a 93rd minute equaliser.

With a rotating team on the field, Djurgorden’s start was awful for Varberg. The Stockholm team ended up at a disadvantage already after 11 minutes. A complicated situation arose in Djurgarden’s penalty area and Marcus Danielson had to clear the ball off the goal line – but then immediately pushed Felipe Cisse 1-0.

Just over ten minutes later came the most discussed position in the match. Hampus Finndell came with the buttons in Sisse’s chest, but the referee chose to show the Djurgården midfielder the yellow card.

– He escapes cheaply, says Discovery expert Jens Fjällström, who believes Finndell should have been fired.

With a few minutes left to the break, Varberg responded to make it 2-0 through Alexander Johansson. The striker finished off the attack with a classic toe pie.

– It worked this time too, so that’s fine. Johansson says it was a great pass from Ismet (Luchaku).

Varberg’s red card

The second half had barely begun before Felipe Cisse was warned for the second time in the match. The Varberg midfielder was dismissed and shortly afterwards Pisard Sapovich was demoted to Djurgården.

The away team continued to press for an equaliser, but Varberg was delayed until the last minutes of the match. In the 93rd minute, the ball ended with Radetenak’s goalkeeper, who shot it. The wing’s end impressively found its way into the far corner and the score was a real 2-2.

This was also the end result, with this Djurgården still ranked second in the table, but the team played one game more than the other top competitors. Varberg is in 12th place in the table.
