Drug use in the junior team – dropped in the table

The elite club’s junior team dropped to the bottom level of the table.

At the same time, Sportbladet has information about widespread drug use, as well as sales, among players:

– We have received indications that some of our players may have experimented with drugs, says the club’s sporting director.

In recent years, the junior ice hockey team has been at the top of the league, but this season everything seems to have collapsed and the team is stuck farther down the table.

It happened in parallel to a turbulent autumn on the ice side where drug abuse is said to have occurred among several players on the team.

In mid-November, the club called an informational meeting for parents where, according to Sportbladet’s information, they were informed that players had tested positive and that up to seven to eight players were taking drugs. There should also be drug sales within the team. It will be about both cocaine and so-called crystal, an online drug that has grown exponentially among young people.

The club’s sporting director does not answer any questions over the phone but does want to send questions via email. He asserts in part that they received indications of drugs and in part that they held an informational meeting.

Unfortunately, drugs have become a major social problem in schools and at private parties and organized events. We at xx (club name) unfortunately did not run away, but we did receive indications that some of our players in youth activities may have experimented with drugs. When we receive information like this as an association, it is normal for us to let the plaintiff know. So we held meetings with parents and provided information on this issue.

Support and assistance provided

However, he says he does not know any of the club’s players are involved in selling drugs:

– We have not received any information about that.

How did he find out that some of your players are taking drugs? Were they caught doping, did you do your own tests or is it a matter for the police?

– The curators in consultation with xx (the name of a reception for drug issues) alerted us.

How did you act against players who used drugs? Are they, or were they, out?

– We have provided support and assistance, as well as having conversations with experts in this field.

When the athletic director was asked how the team’s on-ice performance was affected by suspected drug use:

The result is secondary. People’s health and well-being must be prioritized.

Do you know more? Do you know that there are drugs in your association or any team?
