New York. Conor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers score match points in the heated Battle of Alberta.
They claimed their third win in a row last night – but the Swedes in Calgary weren’t far from spoiling the party for them.
“We still believe in ourselves and we’ll go home and win a match now,” says Hale Rasmus-Anderson.
At first, it looked as if the Edmonton Oilers were going to be run over by the Calgary fires at the fourth meeting of the night.
Already after 21 seconds, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins managed to score 1-0, after the puck rebounded sadly to Jacob Markstrom when he was behind the penalty area, and before the first period was over, the score was 3-0.
But in other cases, the guests from the southern part of the province put their feet and went on a decisive counterattack – and it was the Swedes in the team who led the push.

Then Elias Lindholm and Mikael Backlund scored – and in the middle of the third goal Rasmus Anderson also equalized, with the most unusual goal in the entire qualifier to date. With three and a half minutes left in the match, Ryan Nugent Hopkins managed to score his second goal of the evening and then put Evander Kane 5-3 into the empty net.
So far the Oilers have a 3-1 advantage in the series and can make the decision in the next game, in Calgary on Friday night.
– But we don’t give up, we still believe in ourselves and we’ll come home and win the game now. We don’t think any further, that’s all we focus on, Anderson says.
