Matthias Janmark was on the ice for only 45 seconds in the first away game against his old team Vegas – and then he scored a goal.
“It’s always good to put a puck in the team you’ve played for,” the current Edmonton Swede tells Sportbladet.
He’s been with the Vegas Golden Knights for two great seasons, Mattias Janmark, but this summer there was no longer a place for him on the team, so he had to look further and ended up with the Edmonton Oilers.
Last night he made his first return to the T-Mobile Arena and yes, talk about an amazing comeback.
The match only managed to last 45 seconds. Then he said “Send, do you remember me?” , breaking between two defenders at home and hitting a free with Logan Thompson at 1-0.
“You’re a little nervous before games like this, so I couldn’t have made a better start,” says the 30-year-old Stockholmer when we speak to him afterwards.
– And, of course, it’s always nice to score against your old team.
‘We have taken steps forward’
Jana also had an assist in a game the Oilers eventually won 4-3.
– It was a solid effort on our part. Even though they’ve been hanging around for a long time, we felt like we had control of the whole game and in the third period we shut them down, he continued.
– In general, we have taken steps forward in the last three matches. It’s not just that we won, we played much better than before. We weren’t happy with the way it looked, but now we’ve found something in our game.
