Djurgården threw a big party with them until sunny Sundsvall when Allsvenskan restarted after the summer holidays.
So when Joel bombed Asoro with a 2-1 score, he didn’t hesitate for a second.
He ran straight to the fans and hugged a teddy bear.
Result: a yellow card.
– I got a warning that I was partying with our fans. It feels a little strange that there is such a rule. I had no idea it and felt scary, he says afterwards.
When Victor Edvardsen put it 4-1, history repeated itself.
– Yes, it seems that you are not allowed to. There was a warning on Joel earlier, but I didn’t hear it. So I have to take it…,” he says.
Want to remove the rule
Chief refereeing officer Bojan Bandzic had earlier said he was warning players who “skip the billboard and excite the audience” and said it was a “safety issue”.
But Djurgården’s stars believe the rule should be deleted.
– Yes, I think so anyway. When your fans are, I think it must be okay. But I know now anyway. You have to be a little more careful. But there’s a lot of adrenaline when you score goals, says Asoro.
It’s sad to be warned that you’re partying with fans, but that’s how it is, says Edvardsen.
He might play the derby
Fortunately for Djurgården, Edvardsen/Asoro is not suspended for Hammarby next Sunday.
Edvardsen is already yearning for the derby.
– It would be really fun. Now they’ve played a derby before, and now it’s time to win one, he says.
