After taking the lead early in the game, Elfsburg had a complete breakdown in the second half.
In 11 minutes, Borås conceded three goals against Molde and when the match ended they had to see themselves defeated 4-1.
It looked promising for Elfsburg when they took the lead at the start of the first half, already in the 14th minute, through Rasmus Alm.
After a light heel from Bear Frick, Pain played completely free in front of goal and put the ball behind Jacob Karlstrom in Molde’s goal.
Borås played up front for the rest of the half, but when it was time to come out in the second half, the breakdown came.
Three goals in eleven minutes
Four minutes into the second half, Marcos Andre Casa equalized for the home team and six minutes later another Molde goal came.
After a good save by Tim Running in the Elfsburg goal, the ball went out in order to return in front of the feet of Christopher Haugen of Molde and the result was a reality for the home team.
Then it only took five minutes before the ball found its way behind Tim Running for the third time in the evening.
In 11 minutes Molde was able to catch up and pass three goals in a row, and there will be more.
Minutes before the end of the match, Molde got a corner kick. Regarding the corner, Leo Vaisanen of Elfsborg jumped to head the ball away. Instead, it took Vaisanen’s hand and awarded a penalty to his generator.
Then there was no doubt when Sivert Mannsverk put the ball in the middle of the goal at the same time that Rönning went in the wrong direction.
Red card for overtime
In the extra time, it got really annoying between the teams.
When Emmanuel Boateng offended a Molde player, the away team was really upset.
Molde’s Benjamin Tiedman Hansen ran to Boateng to give him a reprimand but then the Elfsburg player pushed him and he fell to the ground.
It all ended with a red card for Boateng who removed his anger by kicking his back with water bottles, which caused the fans in the stadium to react.
The loss means Elfsburg lose their first quarter-final against Molde and must make up for their three-goal deficit at home at Boras next week.
