Elias Peterson will not attend the Ice Hockey World Cup.
The Ice Hockey Association notified the Vancouver Canucks that they could not pay the insurance.

He and new national team captain Sam Hallam have a history together at the Växjö Lakers and both have been talking about the World Cup since the Canucks finished their season and the star has been positive about the World Cup.
But the challenge has always been Elias insurance coverage. He earns SEK 80 million this season and will sign a new contract next season, which is quite a lot in itself. The current agreement is in effect until 2024.

And the support and protection Elias wants is an invaluable bargain for the Ice Hockey Association. The union, as per practice, only insures the current contract, and Vancouver and Elias want protection for the future contract as well.
According to reports, the cost of the insurance is 2-3 million SEK and according to the reports, the Ice Hockey Association told the Canucks that they could not pay the insurance.
