Chloe Kelly took England’s first gold at the European Championships.
In a historic European Championship final, she decided extra time against Germany after replacing top scorer Beth Mead.
Play was jerky at times in the first half of the EC Final.
A record number of EC spectators (87192!) had to wait until the second half before the match heated up.
Then, however, it got so hot that Wembley boiled.
The match is in overtime
In the 62nd minute, Ella Toone was freed by Keira Walsh and Toone was great as she threw the ball over Merle Frohms in the Germany goal.
England seemed to be heading towards their first historic European Championship gold as time drew to a close, but Lena Magul led the final into overtime.
Majul was stopped by the post when the first equalizing chance came, but in the 79th minute it was passing. Magul met with a balanced pass from Tapia Wassmouth and put the ball into the net.

In overtime, the arena exploded again and it was substitute Chloe Kelly who made sure that happened.
Kelly was substituted in the second half when tournament top scorer Beth Mead was injured, and Kelly remained in front of a corner kick in the 111th minute of the match.
Kelly poked the ball inside and celebrated by ripping off his shirt and cheering heavily with the home crowd.
Then the fans celebrated even more when the final whistle blew. Ukrainian referee Katerina Monzul blew the whistle after two extra minutes of extra time to announce England’s first-ever gold medal at the European Championships.
