Edmonton reportedly wants Eric Carlson, but a deal seems unlikely.
After receiving many questions on this topic, the Swede took off.
– I’ve been asked these questions four times now, he told reporters and left the interview.
Erik Carlsson has had an impressive season in San Jose, where two weeks ago he became the fastest player to reach 70 assists in a season in 33 years.
In recent weeks, there has been speculation about his future, with Edmonton reportedly looking to sign him.
There is a non-movement clause in his contract, which means he can decide his future on his own. According to Sportsnet, Carlson should be open to the move – but he’s no longer counting on it.
– I thought it would be strange if he (Mike Greer, General Manager) came to me three days earlier and asked me to waive my inactivity. We’ve had plenty of time for that if that’s the case, so I’m not worried about that,” he says, according to The Athletic.
The darkest star
Carlson does not dwell on the disappointment of not getting three.
– It sucks somehow. It is what it is, but my family and I enjoy it here. We’ve had a good year and I’m happy to play hockey, he says.
– But not playing important matches and getting a chance to play in the playoffs is difficult. And that’s not something I’m happy about.
When the topic was brought up again and again, the Swede got fed up.
– I’ve asked these questions four times now, Carlson roars at a reporter and leaves.
The 32-year-old has four years left on his contract and earns $11.5 million annually.
The deadline for completing triads is 9 p.m. on Friday.
