Erik Josefsson is Mr. Växjö after 15 seasons at the club.

At the age of 36, the striker has now decided to quit.

– I had to finish with SM gold and move on to new adventures, he says.

Erik Josefsson from Gislaved played for Växjö in the Super League and was there all twelve seasons.

There have been four SM Golds and in the last four seasons he has been a leader.

– There were many ideas back and forth. The ideas really started when we started last year’s season, and the more time passes, says Eric Josephson.

Something that could best express what he meant is sporting director Henrik Evertsson.

– Josen has been a part of our team for almost as long as I’ve been active on the Lakers. In other words, it’s very unusual for me to imagine a team without Goosen. He’s been involved in basically every success we’ve had over the years. Always reliable and always ready to do his best for the team and achieve victory. In the Lakers, no one is bigger than the team, on the other hand, you can be a big part of the team and that is probably the best way to describe Goosen’s role during all these years, says Henrik Evertsson.

It was he who recruited Erik Josefsson from Gislaved for the 2008/2009 Hockeyallsvenskan season.

– Completely in line with his career, he makes a well-thought-out decision and ends his career on a high. Nobody will ever remember anything other than the level we always got from Josen. He finished with WC gold and will forever be remembered as the player who never dropped anything, the player who always gave. Although I would have liked to see him in the team for two more seasons, I’m sticking with him to this end, says Henrik Evertsson.
