Erik Karlsson can be traded to the San Jose Sharks • NHL

Erik Karlsson has been responsible for a strong, injury-free season for the San Jose Sharks.

With four years remaining on his contract, the Swede can now be traded, according to hockey expert Pierre Lebrun.

– Carlson wants to play for a team fighting for the Stanley Cup, he tells TSN.

After the first completely injury-free season in several years, Erik Karlsson is in demand.

In a meeting between the Swede’s agents and the management of his current club, the San Jose Sharks, the decision was made to try and sign Eric Carlson, according to TSN’s Pierre Lebrun.

– they agree, that’s where they are. LeBron said Eric Carlson wants to play for a Stanley Cup contender, and the Sharks are rebuilding their team, so they really have a shared vision of where things should go.

High salary is a problem

Karlssons has spent the past five seasons with the Sharks, and has four more years left on his contract.

The 33-year-old is paid $11.5 million a year, 120 million kroner, which makes moving difficult.

Is there a team that can pay enough of the deal, or how much are the Sharks willing to pay? LeBron asks himself.

He also believes Carlsson has a clause in his contract which means the Swede has the final word on the deal, and can turn down a team if he is not interested in moving there.

There is no guarantee that the transfer will be completed, but a few teams have already contacted us in the past few days, says LeBron.

Erik Karlsson had a solid season in 2022/2023, scoring 25 goals and 76 assists.
