Eskilstuna United crisis plan: Players are chasing money

Eskilstuna United must bring in 2 million people over the fall to save the Elite License.

Now the club has activated the players in search of money.

–They’ve received a final script and will now be calling the companies, says Chairman Lena Bertelson.

Eskilstuna United is bleeding heavily financially.

Earlier in the summer, Eskilstuna announced that they had to raise about three million kroner to save the Elite License.

– We’ve already come some way along the way. We previously said there’s a three million year-over-year shortfall, and now it’s two, so we worked our way up a little bit there. We have some activities left before we hope to reach the finish line. We will be offering the year-end calculation starting at the end of August. It is scheduled for the end of October. Then we’ll report on a plan for the rest of the year and 2023, until what we have to hand over to the Elite License, says Chairman Lena Bertelson.

“got a script”

One of the activities is to activate players in pursuit of money.

From Thursday, the first team will start calling business owners in the city and asking if they have the opportunity to contribute 10,000 SEK.

How did the playing team receive this?

They understand seriousness and want to participate and help the way they can. You were well received. They have received a final text and will be calling it. I hope they get good treatment from the companies they contact. Hopefully it will have a good effect, says Bertilson.

The president also notes that she sees this as a bigger problem for Swedish women’s football.

Other Swedish women’s clubs are having a hard time too, we’re not alone in that. If we want good Swedish women’s football, something has to happen nationwide. More national money has to come in and we have to think about where we want to go with Swedish women’s football in general.
