Espen Knutsen travels to Norway – and becomes “neighbors” with Foba in Zug

Oslo. Peter Forsberg has a new hockey neighbor.

Espen Knutsen left Norway and moved to Zug, Switzerland, where his son Marius plays on the same boys’ team and attends the same school as Lennox’s son Phoba.

Is a new classic pair of radars in the works?

Zug is well on its way to becoming a true hockey mecca.

There are three Swedes in the Eredivisie team in Switzerland’s highest league at centre-back, Kaas Bengson, Niklas Hansson and Andreas Wingerli.

Norwegian Dan Tangis (Rögle and Linköping), known in Sweden, is still the coach, assisted by former Skellefteå sports director Lasse Johansson.

And don’t forget — former Oscars dance icon Benny Boquist is materialistic at the club.

The new wealth tax

But the Alpine town’s most famous hockey players are two holy grails who have moved on to more beautiful scenery and a friendlier taxing climate.

Peter “Foppa” Forsberg – and more recently, Espen Knutsen.

Not because Espen got rich during his hockey career, but because his wife Fanny Jaher is heiress to one of Norway’s largest shipping families.

Norway introduced a new wealth tax that caused many Norwegian billionaires and millionaires to flee the country.

In 2022, more people will choose to move abroad than in the previous 13 years combined.

The first old ski king was Bjorn Dalley, who also lives in Foppas Zug.

And now Espen is the newest addition to the sporting colony.

Espen who became a senior profile in the SHL during his seasons in Djurgården and the SHL and spent five seasons in Anaheim and Columbus in the NHL.

Now he can become teammates with Foppa on the veteran Zug team.

– Yes, if my back is constipated, I’m careful, Norwegian ESPN told VG.

– It’s the old eruptions that cause pain from the neck to the lower back. It’s something I have to live with.
