Färjestad beat Timrå – and the dark streak continues in the SHL

Timrå’s streak of terror against Färjestad is getting longer.

The twelfth loss in a row came tonight after 2-5 at home.

– The performance is good, but the goals are what is missing, says Timra coach Anders Karlsson.

In the last five years, Timrå and Färjestad have met twelve times and Färjestad has won the last 11 meetings.

The goal difference during the twelve meetings was overwhelming, 45-18.

Now there are twelve straight losses and a 50-20 goal difference.

The last time Temra beat Farestad was in September 2018.

Timrå also got off to a nightmare start and when Färjestad’s successful possession caught David Tomasek he took the lead just under a minute after Tim Juel.

But for the third straight home game, the goal came from Magnus Bajjarvi, who skated in to equalize.

However, Färjestad managed to take the lead with another goal through Per Åslund.

The timeout took just 14 minutes

Despite leading 2-1, Färjestad were not satisfied with the first half.

Already after 2:29 p.m., coach Thomas Mittel took a timeout.

– A very bad period, we basically lose every close match. Once we have the ball, we put each other in bad situations with bad passes, striker Viktor Ijdsil tells TV4.

It was perhaps Thomas Mittel’s rebuke that was behind Färjestad’s strong start in the middle period.

Already 24 seconds later, Marcus Nelson raised the score to 3-1.

But after that, things returned to the same picture of the match that was in the first half: control of our home ground and many chances, but without goals.

– The performance is good, there is nothing wrong with the effort or the play, it is the missing goals, says Timra coach Anders Karlsson to TV4.

The slope became increasingly steep as Linus Johansson scored 4-1 into the box.

Emil Pettersson arranged a quick cut, but Farestad scored 5-2 into an empty cage.
