Two new injuries to key players are causing concern before the break
JÖNKÖPING. After two consecutive losses, Thomas Mittel sought production from his leading players.
Several of them then moved forward, Marcus “Lilis” Nelson scored twice and the penalty was fixed until the third.
– Our senior players didn’t score, but now we can’t complain, they know they need to score, says the Färjestad coach.
Swedish champion Färjestad entered a break for the team in second place in the table but with an average of the best points.
After the away defeats to Växjö and at home to Oskarshamn, the visitors were three points away. HV71.
Färjestad turned a 2-1 deficit in the third period into a 3-2 victory.
– I don’t know if you criticized these great players, it’s more that we had to score goals in situations. They tried, but needed quality or desperation, whichever is, says Thomas Mittel.
“Take it the right way”
King Marcus “Lilis” Nelson assisted in shooting and scored two goals and set the penalty kick for the third goal.
Sniper Michel “Lincan” Lindqvist stood in a neat playing position for the first goal.
– In fact, he had better shoot when he had such good shots. He’s smart, says Marcus “Lilis” Nelson, it was a great pass.
Viktor Ejdesel scored the decisive penalty kick with a left of 2.25 and assisted the first goal.
– What you can say, however, is that these guys usually take such statements in the right way. They are fully aware that they need to score goals. They were so good today and settled on us, we were so lucky to have them. It’s up and down and small margins, says Thomas Mittel.
Two new injuries
Färjestad has been affected by injury and illness this fall.
Theodor Linstrom, Henrik Björklund and Karl Jacobson missed the match against HV71.
During the match, Michael “Lincan” Lindqvist and Danielle Fixten were knocked out.
Both suffer from lower body injuries. We have some injuries, but now it’s time to break and it will be fine. It was half the damage before, so maybe no other players were involved. Now we rest and recover together, says Thomas Mittel.
Linus Johansson and Phil Boca are two players who are involved in the national team duties with Tre Kronor and Finland respectively.
