Färjestad’s Linus Johansson honors Joel Lundqvist – SHL Qualifier

Linus Johansson himself took the lead

Karlstad / Stockholm. The season ended in Farjestad.

But just minutes after coming out, Linus Johansson wanted to talk about Joel Lundqvist.

– It’s great to meet someone like him, he says.

In seven matches, Frölunda and Färjestad battled against each other before Gothenburgers finally managed to win 4-3 on aggregate in the matches.

The two players who rubbed against each other the most were the two team captains, quarterbacks Linus Johansson and Joel Lundqvist.

He took the initiative himself

After the end of the match, the duo stood for a long time talking to each other on the ice.

When Johansson met with the media, he wanted, on his own initiative, to start talking about Joel Lundqvist, who was leaving after the season.

– First of all, I want to say how nice it was to meet a person like him during the years I played in the SHL. He’s among the greats with Jörgen Jönsson, Johan Davidsson and those guys. He says it was an honor to compete against Joel in the drawing circle.

Linus Johansson and Joel Lundqvist thank each other after Frolunda advanced to the semi-finals.

“Very loyal to the team”

If you were to lose the quarter-final now, is Joel the person you’d most like to win in that situation?

Personally, I have to say he’s a very dedicated person to the team and made Frölunda what it is today. Without it, Frölunda wouldn’t be where they are today. Just as angry, it’s hard for us. We wanted to make sure this was his last match of the day. But we made a little mistake in the first period.

She stood for a long time talking to Joel after that. What did you say to each other?

– I just wanted to praise him and tell him what a great captain he is and what he did for Frolunda. A man like this should be respected and given credit even when it’s his last season.
