FIFA suspended Julian Araujo – there is no match in Barcelona

FC Barcelona was 18 seconds late in submitting documents for the signature of Julian Araujo.

Now comes the FIFA ruling.

The deal was not approved and Araujo was forced to return to Los Angeles.

As usual, it was an intense deadline day Tuesday with a lot of big turnarounds, but also deals that fell apart in the worst possible way.

Hakim Ziyech was in Paris to sign with PSG, but Chelsea didn’t send his papers in time and the Moroccan had to return home to Chelsea.

Now Julián Araujo is forced to do the same.

The deal has been stopped

FC Barcelona signed the 21-year-old Mexican right-back from Los Angeles Galaxy for the equivalent of 20 million crowns, but the documents only entered the system 18 seconds after the deadline.

Since then, Araujo has been training on his own while waiting to hear Barcelona’s call.

Now the FIFA verdict has arrived.

The deal was canceled, LA Galaxy refunded the money and Araujo was forced to return to LA, Mundo Deportivo says.

More attempts

Barcelona’s idea with Julián Araujo was to train him in the reserve team and allow him to grow, but also that he could be promoted to the A-team and replace Hector Bellerin in case of injury.

Now there will be no game at all in “Blaugrana”.

But Araujo will end up in Barcelona sooner or later. The Spanish club have already shown interest in him this summer, so perhaps it’s not out of the question that they’ll make another attempt the next time the transfer window opens…
