Corey Lindstrom won World Cup gold and World Cup silver as captain of the national team three crowns in the eighties.
Then he became an eternal icon in neighboring Finland, when he led them to win their first gold at the World Cup in 1995.
When Tre Kronor beat Finland 3-2 on penalties in a crowded Nokia arena during the Hockey World Cup in Tampere, he was there.
A match that could go any way I did, too. It was like, maybe Sweden’s vision was a little better throughout the match. Lindstrom says Finland saw certain parts of the match when it was really good.
I got applause from the audience
Corey, who currently lives in Thailand, says he was invited by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association.
– On Saturday, they have a “Legend Lunch” for the three Finnish teams that won the World Cup and the Olympic team. It would never happen in Sweden, but it does happen in Finland.
Soon after the match, he ascended to the jumbo throne, much to the delight of the home team’s fans.
– I sometimes think it’s embarrassing with such things, but they also show appreciation. He says it’s a receipt of job approval.

Who beats the heart the most in a match like this?
– I’m Swedish, of course, I live in Sweden. But I was 3-2 back to Finland, so I cracked.
After the tournament, Corey is looking forward to the Swedish summer.
– I am at home in Stockholm with my wife from Thailand, and I got a residence permit for a little longer. I can’t miss the summer in Sweden.
