IFK Gothenburg is looking for a new coach.
According to Sportbladet info, former Bröndby golden coach Nils Frederiksen is one of the names Blåvitt is considering.
IFK Göteborg announced on Wednesday that the club will sack coach Mikael Stähr. This is after the club lost to Gais and IFK Norrköping and failed to advance from the group stage of the Swedish Cup.
McKayel has put an enormous amount of time and energy into the team’s success, and we thank him for that. In a press release, Håkan Mild said that in order to get the most out of our team, a change needs to be made now.
IFK Göteborg made the decision on Tuesday night and for a short while also scrutinized the coaching market if they had to sack Stahre.
Former gold coach and current captain of the U-21 national team
According to Sportbladet’s info, one of Blåvitt’s namesake could be a possible replacement for Mikael Stahri, Bröndby’s former gold coach, Niels Frederiksen. The 52-year-old Dane joined Bröndby in the summer of 2018 and led the club to their first Danish league title in 16 years in 2021.
However, he was fired last November after Bröndby did not achieve the results he wanted. In addition to being the head coach of Brøndby, Frederiksen was also the national team captain of the Danish U-21 national team for five years, leading the team to the European Championship finals in 2017 and 2019. He is both the sporting director and coach of Lyngby.
IFK Gothenburg was clear that the club was still at the beginning of the process regarding a new coach and that they had several names on their list of potential replacements for Stahri.
