Connor Bedard had two goals and two assists for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The 18-year-old super talent was the big game hero in a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida.
– He’s starting to get the hang of it, says coach Luke Richardson.
The Canadian draft pick now has eleven points (seven goals, four assists) in twelve games.
Already in the first period against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Connor Bedard scored three points.
The right shooting position tied the score at 1-1 and made it 4-2 and forward Tyler Johnson played in for the goal to make it 3-2.
– I feel that there are matches in which I could have created more than this and did not get any points. You never know. I think it’s just going to keep going. That’s the way things go sometimes. “It feels good to get the record for scoring,” says Connor Bedard.
“It paid off.”
In the second period, he got his second assist to Corey Perry on the power play.
It was actually the first NHL game in which Connor Bedard scored more than one point.
– He’s new to the league, he’s been here for dozens of matches. He’s really starting to get into it and use his attributes to the best of his ability. It paid off for him and for us tonight,” Luke Richardson says.
In the penalty area, Jonas Johansson blocked 24 shots in the match.
This was the team’s first home loss of the regular season.
The Chicago Blackhawks have suffered eight straight losses to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
