Two of the main candidates as the new president of the Swedish Football Association answer questions in the media and give their views on the future of Swedish football.

The most famous of them, Frederick Reinfeldt, 57, shook his head until further notice.

– answers those who have the right to vote first, says the speaker.

Eight candidates, nominated by county associations or elite clubs to take over as the new president of the Swedish Football Association after Karl-Erik Nilsson, became three when the Swedish Football Association’s selection committee selected the main candidates.

Two of them, Helen Barneko and Lars Krister Olsson, answer the questions, but it is unclear what thoughts and visions about football the former prime minister, who is a staunch Djurgården supporter, has.

He treats everyone equally and does not conduct interviews. He will start by answering questions from those eligible to vote, says spokesman Frederick Reinfeldt.

During the Tuesday evening, the three main candidates will have the opportunity for 45 minutes to introduce themselves and answer questions from those eligible to vote at a meeting of the Federation, District Associations and Elite Clubs on both the women’s and men’s side.

“Unable to make the process more transparent”

The meeting and hearing are not open to the media or those interested in football.

– We consider it a business meeting in operation. Election commission chairman Ingmar Alm says it’s the election commission’s decision.

The process couldn’t be made more transparent than this. Representatives of Sweden’s 3,000 football clubs have nominated eight people, we’ve narrowed that down to three.

Are there rules regarding the participation of candidates in interviews?

– It is up to the candidates themselves how they want to meet the media. We don’t get involved, says Ingmar Alm, some have already appeared in the media and others rarely at all.

“sexy for me”

Fredrik Reinfeldt has been nominated as the new SvFF chair by Brommapojkarna.

When it became clear that the former prime minister, 2006-2014, was one of the three main candidates remaining, he made a brief statement:

“It’s exciting for me as a huge football fan to be a part of what’s next. I look forward to next week answering questions from the Election Commission and who has the right to vote.”
