Frölunda’s Mats Roselli Olsen is still out of training

In the sixth quarterfinals of the SHL playoffs, Mats Roselli Olsen of Frölunda suffered a concussion.

Something kept him from training until today, three months later.

– There is no schedule for something like this, says Fredrik Sjöström, Frölunda’s sporting director for the GP.

Mats Roselli Olsen played twelve seasons in a Frolland shirt. But whether there will be a thirteenth is still not clear.

During last season’s quarter-final match against Färjestad, the Norwegian suffered a concussion after being hit in the head. At first glance, the injury did not seem so serious, and Rosselli Olsen made another substitution after the blow.

But since that change, the 32-year-old hasn’t been able to fully train all at once.

“still not good”

Rosselli Olsen missed the WC with Norway due to injury, and also missed the entire summer training with Frölunda. It remains unclear when and if the Norwegian can return to training.

– It’s still not good. that simple. With things like that, they can’t be forced either. It has to take the time it takes,” Frölunda sporting director Fredrik Sjöström tells the GP.

This is not the first time the attacker has suffered a concussion. But starting to think about whether the game is over for the Norwegian is not something Sjöström wants to think about.

– We don’t want to think like that. And I don’t think Ross would want that either. We simply have to give him time. And I think everyone is hoping the time is right.

I returned home to Norway

Roselli Olsen was also not with the team during summer training. Instead, the 32-year-old had to return home to Norway to recover both physically and mentally.

– We have chosen the best for him in this period. In general, it’s okay. Obviously, this kind of thing affects. It’s very frustrating when you feel like you want things, but they don’t work.
