Gothia Cup forced to transfer 100 matches: ‘It’s an accident’

About 100 matches were forced to transfer from Heden’s artificial turf during the Gothia Cup.

The reason is that the plans are so bad.

They are not so well maintained that it is dangerous to play football on them, says Dennis Anderson, General Secretary of the Gothia Cup.

In less than a week, the Gothia Cup will be launched around Gothenburg.

In the center of Gothenburg is the town of Heiden where most of the cup matches will be played, but that will not be the case now.

The plans are very bad.

– It can’t be played. Dennis Anderson, the general secretary of the Gothia Cup, says that they are so poorly maintained that it is dangerous to play football on them.

Now the Gothia Cup has been forced to move about 100 matches from Heden to Härlanda park instead. However, Heden 3, 4 and SKF Arena will be ready to play, which GP was first to report.

On the other hand, two of Heden’s five plans are in such an unsuitable state that they cannot be used.

– It is very sad and strange that the city cannot keep the plans playable. I actually can’t really understand how to think there.

Both the Bartel Cup and the Gothia Cup have previously criticized Hayden’s plans as there must be holes and loose pieces in the artificial turf, increasing the risk of players being injured.

During the Bartell Cup, schematics were used initially but at the end of the cup they were also forced to move matches from there.

– Technically this is the solution that will work, then you have to wonder how we could end up in this situation. How did they fail to take care of their facility in this way. This is an issue that we must take with us with the municipality and discuss the value of the Gothia Cup and the Bartell Cup to the city.
