Gustav Rydahl agrees with Frölunda • Sportbladet reveals

Gustav Rydal, 28, has opted to play in the SHL next season – but not for Färjestad.

According to Sportbladet’s information, the former FBK captain has agreed with worst rival Frölunda on a long-term contract.

– Gustav is currently fully focused on the season there and taking a place in the NHL. Questions about his future will have to go forward, says his agent Johan Altberger.

Before this season, Gustav Rydahl left Färjestad and signed a one-way contract with the legendary New York Rangers worth $750,000, nearly eight million kroner.

But there was no match in the NHL. Instead, the Olympic forward from 2022 stayed on for the Hartford Wolf Pack, where he had 15 points in 40 games. However, as of Friday, he was traded away from the Colorado organization.

There was speculation that Rydal would return to Europe next season, and there was certainly no shortage of interested clubs. A return to Färjestad or the Games in Switzerland were the hottest rumors.

But that won’t be the case.

According to Sportbladet’s information, Gustav Rydahl agrees with Frölunda.

He was the captain of Färjestad

The information to Sportbladet instead says that Rydahl has agreed with Färjestad’s worst rival, Frölunda, a long-term contract.

Frölunda is not a new acquaintance for Rydahl, who has spent large portions of his junior time at the club and also made his SHL debut there.
In recent years, however, Rydal has been strongly associated with Vargstad. He was born in Karlstad and has parents’ club Färjestad. It was also where he made his breakthrough at SHL level after a few really tough years at Luleå and was also named team captain.

But when he now returns to the SHL, he will be in a Frölunda shirt.
