Before the Formula 1 race in Baku, Haas team principal Gunther Steiner warned Mick Schumacher. It should not cause another accident.
It could cause major problems ahead of the next Canadian competition – which has only one week left.
Mick Schumacher, the son of multiple world champion Michael Schumacher, has caused two serious accidents during this year’s season. In both cases, the car was completely overwhelmed, which costs huge sums. It is rumored that each accident was worth about ten million kronor. It’s a huge amount of money for a team on a tight budget.
Now the next city line is waiting. F1 in Baku means a six-kilometre city line with a straight line of 2.2 kilometers, punctuated by narrow curves. There is an imminent risk of driver error and only a few days later F1 flies to Montreal and Canada GP in Formula 1.
Steiner then takes the opportunity to send a warning to Mick Schumacher.
– We only have two days to prepare for Montreal. If we do damage in cars, it will be much more difficult. Therefore, we hope that we will not suffer any injuries in Baku, the team manager said in a press release issued by Haas.
Warning to F1 in Baku
Mick Schumacher has yet to score a point in the Formula 1 World Cup. He had a hard time dealing with new teammate Kevin Magnussen (4-2 to Magnussen in qualifying and a clear advantage in terms of points). Instead, drive the car into two accidents. After competing in Monaco, Steiner was crucial to the team’s press release:
– I’m not happy we have another big crash, we’ll see how we move forward from this.
This prompted Ralph Schwamscher, an expert on the Sky and Mick novels, to respond forcefully.
– It’s an absolutely impossible statement. It is very typical of Gunter Steiner. It leaves plenty of room for misinterpretations, Ralf Schumacher tells German Sky.
– It is absolutely unnecessary, even the team made mistakes. Now there are two things to solve. Mick who should see allowed no more mistakes behind the wheel and Haas who should also keep working. Magnussen also struggled in the end.
Don’t worry about the future
According to Ralf Schumacher, his nephew does not need to worry about his future in Formula 1. This is despite the fact that he did not get any World Cup points in Formula 1 and is now broken due to his mistakes on two occasions.
I think the team managers see exactly what he has potential. There are also other possibilities, Schwacher says, and when it comes to German manufacturers they also want German drivers.
He points out that his nephew is a Ferrari driver and that Ferrari, not Steiner, decides what the future will look like.
Mick Schumacher is looking forward to F1 in Baku, a cycle where he achieved his best result last year when he finished 13th.
– Baku and Monaco are very different courses, so it’s about adapting quickly and Baku feels very spacious compared to Monaco, says Schumacher.
– I hope we have a better race than last year, our car is better this year. We started well position before Baku, our car was able to compete on all the tracks we have driven this year.

Williams is punished for breaking budget rules. Therefore, the team was fined and had to pay $25,000 to the FIA for not submitting papers citing last year’s financial figures on time. The team should have submitted its report on March 31, 2022. It did not and then violated Section 5(1) of the Financial Regulations introduced in 2021. Williams paid the fine and subsequently submitted his report.
