Hammarby’s setback – Trawali to miss rest of season

Hammarby took a heavy break before the Battle of Gold.

Striker Boubacar “Steve” Trawale has to undergo knee surgery and is out for the rest of the season.

We struggle with Steve, who did his best to perform and help the team, says sporting director Jesper Janson.

Hammarby recruited Boubacar “Steve” Trawale before the season and expectations were high. But the new acquisition injured himself during a meeting of the national team and was not able to make his debut until the end of May.

Since then, the striker has mostly had to take over and now comes the next setback. Trawally is forced to have surgery on his knee and is therefore out for the rest of the season.

Our medical team has worked hard with Steve to keep him available, but in order for Steve to do justice to himself and the team in the long term, an intervention is needed, and we are choosing to do it now rather than after the season, sporting director Jesper Jansson tells the club’s website.

“Frustrating”

Trawally himself is disappointed that he was forced to have surgery.
“It was frustrating not to be able to give my best during the time I was upset with this injury, but I will come back stronger and look forward to contributing to the team next year and fighting together to realize our dreams,” he says.

Hammarby is third in Allsvenskan, five points behind leaders Djurgården with eight games remaining.
