Harry Kane was reminded by Brentford supporters of missing a penalty in the World Cup.
Then Kane became the top scorer and saved a point for Tottenham in the London derby.
There is a particular chant that has long been popular in English football stadiums immediately after major football tournaments.
In almost every tournament over the years England have failed to make it to the medal matches and players have been told to “let your country down” from the stands upon returning home.
Harry Kane sneered
This time it was Harry Kane’s turn to mock him for “letting his country down”.
Kane scored a penalty in the World Cup quarter-final against France but then missed miserably when he had another chance from eleven yards out and England were knocked out of the World Cup.
This was observed in the stands of Brentford in the London derby during the classic “Boxing Day” football match. The crowd already chanted “You failed your country” at Kane’s first touch of the ball, to which the Tottenham fans responded by chanting “He’s one of us”.
Kulusevsky performance
It was an exciting match in which Harry Kane participated in the highest degree.
Brentford took a 2–0 lead in the second half when Kane scored an equalizer in the 65th minute. Tottenham then got a point when Dejan Kulusevski, through a defensive leg, played Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for the equaliser.
Harry Kane came close to winning the match in the 84th minute, but this time his header hit the crossbar.
