What will happen to the multi-champion in 2023? A new rumor about Lewis Hamilton says that he will retire and leave Formula One.
He was replaced by Sergio Perez of Red Bull.
It all depends on the poor start to the season and the car that has yet to win a race in 2022.
Lewis Hamilton won six Formula 1 World Championship titles between 2014 and 2020, but in 2021 Max Verstappen lost him after a brilliant finish in Abu Dhabi. For the 2022 season, a new rule change came and Mercedes was nowhere near its previous dominance. In fact, the team was far behind in the opening game of the season, and although it has now scored several podiums, it has yet to win.
That means Lewis Hamilton has had one of his worst starts ever in any season, and Mercedes is set to miss out on the constructors’ championship for the first time since 2014.
This may be the reason for a new rumor about Lewis Hamilton – that he will retire, despite having a contract, and replace him with Sergio Perez – who is also under contract with Red Bull.
– It really is nonsense, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff told www.moorsport.com, and it’s something The Sun writes about as well.
– I didn’t call Sergio. He’s a good guy and I respect him, but I haven’t spoken to him or any other driver.
The stable manager continues:
Even though Lewis and I are in an uncomfortable situation, like at the beginning of the seasons, we always try to make things better and make sure we work together again next year. In recent months, we’ve been telling each other that we can keep working like this for five, maybe ten years. So none of this is true.
New rumor about Lewis Hamilton in F1
Earlier this year, British Formula 1 legend Jackie Stewart reported on the podcast “The Convex Conversation” that:
– I think it’s time for his retirement.
Outspoken Red Bull Motorsports advisor Helmut Marko was also on the same track.
On the other hand, Hamilton hasn’t said much about next year. He has a contract until 2023, has a car developed during the season and has seven World Cup titles – the equivalent of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher.
Does he want eighth place and does Mercedes have the ability to help him win it?
Even if this year’s entire season was in vain, next year it would be Louis and I. We only did it because we were hoping for something else, says Wolf.
Lewis Hamilton, 37, has stood on the podium in the last four Formula One races.
The other guys are a little ahead, but we’re closing that gap. “Hopefully we can do more in the second half of the season and challenge for victories,” Hamilton told Sky Sports after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The season starts again next week – with competition in Belgium. This is the schedule for the remainder of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship.

Korra’s notes about F1
Yesterday it was eight years since Red Bull introduced a rough diamond as a driver on their team. He was 16 years old at the time.
Now he is the world champion and leads the Formula 1 World Championship in 2022.

Many of you have heard the interview at Plattan i Mattan with former F1 driver Stefan Johansson. For those of you who want to read more about Stefan and his career, I had a great interview with him last year. We’ve talked about his interest in art that stems from the grief that surrounds his lost colleagues. You will find it here.
The new engine regulations for 2026 are ready. F1 will get greener. Now the road is open for Audi and Porsche in Formula 1. This would make three German teams, could it be salvation for Mick Schumacher? At Mercedes, Red Bull Porsche or Audi Sauber?
IndyCar at the gate
IndyCar is this weekend at the oval at Gateway to run the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, with a race distance of just over 500 km or 260 laps. The oval is 2.1 km long and is number 15 out of 17 divisions of the championship.
Marcus Ericsson still has a chance to win the title, he is third in the championship. He’s 12 points behind leader Will Penske and that doesn’t take into account that the points return in IndyCar could be much greater than it is in F1.
Felix Rosenqvist has shown a bullish shape. Those of you who listened to our “Plattan i Mattan” F1 podcast released on Wednesday know that Stefan “Lill-Lövis” Johansson, Principal of Felix Rosenqvist, believes in the extension at IndyCar.
– Looks good and many stables are interested. Then we’ll see if it’s McLaren or something else, Stefan said.
Rosenqvist has had a good oval season and is positive this weekend.
I took first place in Texas at the start of the season. We had a strong Indy 500 and Pato (Oward, teammate) won the last oval race in Iowa. Qualifiers are going to be important this weekend, and it’s hard to overtake at Gateway. If we can start in the top 10, I think we have every chance to fight for victory on Saturday, he says.
