One of the controversial issues that has arisen around the wage gap between players and women in football. Lindahl gave his opinion on the matter.

– I think the prize money should be the same in all tournaments run by FIFA, UEFA and similar organisations. Their mission is to develop football for everyone, not just men and boys, she says and continues:

– Then there are private owners in the clubs and then the market rules, but hopefully we will find a system in the future where money doesn’t have to be the strongest driving force to win things. This may be the sport, and you can also find a solidarity distribution.

“It is unreasonable for any athlete to earn such amounts.”

Lindahl believes that change is required.

I don’t think it’s reasonable for men’s players or any other athlete to be able to earn as much as they do. In the context of the national team, I think it should be the same compensation.

The goalkeeper is disturbed by the differences that exist between women and men.

– I don’t think it’s okay. You have to wake up and realize what the world looks like. FIFA etc. have a mission to develop football for everyone, and you don’t do that when you are only pumping money into one side of the football tree.

Hedwig Lindahl.
