Heidi Wing talks about concussion: ‘It was very difficult’

Heidi Wing went to dinner with King Harald F. of Norway.

After that, the 31-year-old skater remained bedridden for three days.

She is now on her way back after longstanding concussion issues and is talking about tough times.

2022 has started very difficult for the Norwegian figure skating star Heidi Wong.

She initially contracted COVID-19 and missed the Olympic Games in Beijing in February.

In March, she fell, hit her head on the ice, and suffered a concussion.

‘It was tough’

After that, Heidi Wing had to move away from training and social life for a long time.

Being social and driving was the worst, it gave me a lot of headaches. It was horrible at first. Lying in bed and feeling like your head is going to explode is not something I can recommend. Gradually, things got better, but it was difficult, says Heidi Wing for Norwegian TV 2.

– I was relieved that I can now listen to music. Before that, I could only listen to soft piano music.

Her approval of the castle dinner with King Harald V in May had long-lasting consequences.

– It was very difficult. I had dinner with the King on May 12, and then had to lie in bed for three days after that. Heidi Wang says: I missed Ragnhild Hagga’s wedding and many other things.

She was 50 seconds behind American Sophia Lockley, who won the race.

– I couldn’t push myself, I probably had a lot to do in my head too. I got a good pass and now I can only go in one direction, which is up, says Heidi Wing.

In her career, Heidi Wing has won, among other things, five World Cup gold medals in the relay and nine World Cup victories, including the Tour de Ski in 2017.
