Hermann Lev is following in the footsteps of Father Stefan – in the national team again

A new life is making its way into the hockey elite.

Hermann Leif, 16, who was once again selected to the 17-team national team.

– I must have received good genes from my father, he says.

Stefan Lev has been a player in Swedish hockey for many years. He won three SM golds, one WC gold and one Olympic gold. He charmed the Hockey family with an unassuming, pleasant demeanor and was a friend to everything and everyone.

Sadly, Stefan passed away in 2011 after Lokomotiv Yaroslavl crashed his plane on the way to an away match.

It has now been nearly 12 years since the accident and Stefan’s memory still lingers. always.

The similarities with Father Stefan are striking

He was not remembered by his two sons, Harry and Hermann, with the latter choosing to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a hockey goalie.

Hermann turns 16 and turns 17 this fall, and currently plays for Örebro. The similarities with Father Stefan are striking – same facial expression, body language, spying, and looks.

They have the same gestures, they rest the goalkeeper’s stick in the same way. Both are humble, have tremendous competitive instincts, and like his father, Hermann is great at stopping pucks.

Hockey has naturally entered my life. When I played in hockey schools, I always ended up in the back of the goal. Then of course it depends on my dad. I want to win and if I’m in the goal and don’t let the pucks in, my team wins. I love being a contributing factor, says Hermann Lev.

We meet Hermann before Örebro’s seventh and very decisive match against Temera in the quarter-finals of the SM Qualifiers and he’s a bit worried about the outcome. He is of course based in Orebro and wants the team to progress.

Team Hermann J18 is also in the playoffs and today they play their first quarter-final against HV71, Hermann’s former team, in the SM playoffs.

– I like both teams a bit. I was worried when the HV was so bad for a while on the table, but it finally worked. Now I want to win SM gold with J18 for Orebro and then HV71 is a match on the way there,” he says of the special meeting on Thursday.

He carries with him the memory of his father through his backs and the number on the shirt is of course the number 1. He then has his father’s picture on the helmet of the new goalkeeper.

Hockey came naturally through my dad. The sport opened to me. But then I don’t think I got any help from “Son Stefan”. I have good genes and attention. Hermann says that it is mostly the elderly who remember my father.

Anyway, they’re mostly the ones saying something about my dad these days and he wants to talk hockey with me. My father’s friend Victor Wallin has also become my friend and we talk a lot and when it comes to hockey issues I listen to Örebro and my agent Joachim Persson, says Herrmann.

National team coach Hermann Lev praised

The only difference between father and son Lev is that father Stefan was not as talented as Hermann as a teenager. Hermann played on the 16-team national team and is a 17-team resident. He was again selected to the national team this week for another tournament.

National team goalkeeper coach Peter Iversen pays tribute to Herrmann:

– It’s been a pleasure watching Hermann and I admire the high level he’s shown throughout the season. He has a calm and mental strength which I don’t see often and which I think will take him far in his career. He does not have the largest coverage area for his size but makes up for it with a very good sense of game and movement technique which means he is often in the right position. He reminds a lot of his father, both on and off the ice.

This season, Hermann has raised his investment in ice hockey as he eats and sleeps in ice hockey. all the time. He also has a completely correct attitude towards elite hockey and loves it as much as dad Stefan.

– I’m in the hall every day from 15 to 20. There are a lot of good opportunities here with food, physical activity and ice cream. We are a group that is here and I am enjoying the group. We have good help from goalkeeper coaches Christopher Ericsson and Alphonse Falqvist and they have molded me into a goalkeeper. I may have become less active, some say my dad was, and I have a better frame now. I will compete, of course, but with more control, he describes his daily life and development in hockey now.

A hockey career is a long journey that can take many twists and turns. There are few who manage to make a living from hockey, and even fewer who end up in the national team or the NHL.

Hermann fully captured that image and reality. He should not be bothered by any pressure or pressure from the outside, or because of the title.

He lives in the moment and does not float in his thoughts.

– I think like this: I will train and play well, every single day. Then I ended up at the level where I could end up. I can only do my best. But of course the NHL is a goal, but it’s not something I think about often.
