Hugo Larsson stays at Malmö FF – Eliminates Premier League transfer

Estepona. Hugo Larsson remains at Malmö FF – despite interest from the Premier League and Bournemouth. The midfielder made the decision in days.

– It was fun, he says.

Sportbladet revealed this week that Premier League side Bournemouth wanted to sign Hugo Larsson for a record fee. The club made contact with the MFF and was willing to offer more than SEK 90 million for the player, which became a record transfer in Allsvenskan. Bournemouth’s plan was to buy the player now and then loan him out, either to Lorient in Ligue 1 or back to MFF outright.

But the day after deadline day, the 18-year-old revealed that he will be staying at Malmö FF.

– It feels so good that it’s over. There have been a lot of ideas lately. I felt that the move I was hoping for might not come out. I have mostly looked at the sporting part and it will take a lot for me to leave Malmö FF.

– There were concrete things to decide on and there was interest. But he says the perfect move didn’t pan out and I’m enjoying MFF really well.

But it’s up to you to decide the time in the end, isn’t it because the clubs couldn’t agree?

– As you understand.

How did you feel thinking about this decision?

– This is probably the first time for me and it was an intermittent period. I had to try to absorb as much information as possible so I had all the cards on the table.

– It was a little tricky, but I’m satisfied with how it turned out.
