Hungary has everything in its hands ahead of the sixth and final match of the Nations League group stage.
This is after a huge shock away match against Germany, where Ádám Szalai became the hero of the match with his elegant goal with his heel.
Meanwhile, England completed their fiasco by exiting the First Division.
In Group 3 of League One of the Nations League, Hungary were unexpectedly strong, having, among other things, broken England by a massive 4-0 away from home earlier in the summer.
Now it is also clear that there will be a clean final to win the group between Hungary and Italy in the last match. This is after the Hungarians made a big fuss against Germany away from home in Leipzig.
Stylish heel behind Hungary’s swagger
Ádám Szalai shocked the Red Bull Arena early in the 17th minute of the match when he scored with a superb header for Hungary after a corner kick, and the Germans had few chances to equalize in the first half.
Goalkeeper Peter Gulacci, along with some sacrificial defense, proved key for Hungary in the second half as Germany pressed for an equaliser. But despite several giant chances, the Hungarian clean slate kept her net, and Szalai’s early goal ensured the super shock could be a reality. Hungary’s victory also means that Germany can no longer win the group.
Failed for England – leaves the First Division
In the same group, England lost 1-0 away to Italy, meaning the English were knocked out of the First Division in the Nations League. This is because they have so far only scored two points while only scoring one goal.
