HV71 is in crisis at SHL – considering bringing in a mental counselor

Eighth loss in a row away from home – and not a goal in more than 190 minutes.

Crisis Team HV71 then considers hiring a psychological counselor.

– Anything that can make us better is worth trying, says old coach Johan Lindbom.

The crisis is getting worse for HV71. Jumbo in the table after another loss away from home.

Sporting director Kent Norberg was on board the charter flight to Timrå, where his former club worsened HV’s situation further with a 3-0 win.

Thus, HV71 became scoreless in three matches and another 10 minutes and 18 seconds in the meeting with Örebro.

HV71 leaves the ice after another scoreless game.

Norberg was frustrated and disappointed when Sportbladet spoke to him:

– The first period is good, away from home, but then when we receive the first thing, something happens. I don’t know. We have now played three games without scoring any goals.

Norberg stresses that hiring a psychological counselor is crucial:

– Of course we talked about it, Johan (Lindbom) and I. But it’s also up to Johan. We’ve discussed this before, but it’s also important to find the right option. Anyway, it’s very disappointing that we played well in the first half, and then… yeah, I don’t know.

Do you have any specific names you’re eyeing at the moment?

– No, we don’t have that.

“This is not the time to discuss team building.”

Johan Lindbom said that he also realizes that a mental counselor can help the team in this situation.

“I actually started looking into it on Monday,” says Lindbom, who took over when Thomas Montaigne was fired on Sunday.

Lindbom adds:

-Anything that can make us better is worth trying.

When it comes to whether the team building needs to be strengthened with additional players, Kent Norberg answers

– I don’t know at the moment. I do not think so. If we look at the quality of players we have, we should…

Look better?

– Yes, that is how it is. But team building has been debated by many on the right and left. Of course we are discussing, but we will see. I don’t know. Now is the wrong time to stand up and discuss what team building should look like, there are too many emotions.
