HV71 president Anders Wilander leaves for health reasons

I have been on sick leave for a long time

Earlier this year, Anders Wilander suffered serious blood poisoning.

– It was really bad, really bad. I was more dead than alive, he told Jönköpings-Posten last summer.

Now HV71 announces that he will leave his position as Chairman of the Board permanently.

Anders Wilander was on medical leave from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors during the fall semester. Instead, Andreas Davidsson took over as acting Chairman of the Board.

Wilander announced to HV71 club management on Sunday that he will leave the club permanently for health reasons.

“It is of course a sad message to receive from Anders, but health comes first in all cases and we hope that his ongoing rehabilitation will progress well,” Andreas Davidsson tells the club’s website.

Davidson will continue as acting Chairman of the Board while the process of appointing a new Chairman begins.

“I wouldn’t be sitting here otherwise.”

Wilander suffered severe blood poisoning earlier this year and spent a long period in hospital.

– Only when you cross that threshold and are inside the hospital, will you understand the nature of the work they do. You are so glad you live near such good and absolutely charming healthcare. Otherwise I would not be sitting here talking to you today,” he told Jönköpings-Posten.

He previously said he hopes to return to his job at the club. It’s something he doesn’t do now.
