HV71's Sanni Hakala is being supported on social media

HV71 player Sanni Hakala had a terrible accident on the ice and is now paralyzed from the chest down.

She is now supported by her teammates, opponents and friends.

The 26-year-old Finn spoke about his new status in an Instagram post last night.

“Not only will I have to stop playing hockey, which has been a big part of my life for many years, but I may also have to live in a wheelchair.” I wrote in this post.

“The whole hockey world is behind you.” The Canadian Ice Hockey Federation writes in a comment on the post.

“You are the strongest in the world

“You are a fighter and you are strong” comments Luleå player Jenni Hiirikoski, who adds three heart emojis.

Herikoskis fills Lakamarat Runja Savolainen:

“You are the strongest in the world. I love you,” she writes.

Many current and former HV71 players also send their regards.

Lias Andersson (in HV 2016-2017 and 2019-2021) and Robin Figren (in HV 2017-2019) both send heart emojis.

Calls for joint tribute

Leksand's Tifo group “Leksand Tifo Crew” remembers the support Tobias Forsberg received when he was paralyzed for a match in 2018, and directed their support to Sanni Hakala in a Facebook post:

“We can never imagine what you are going through now, but we know what the support Toby received in relation to his accident means to him. So, we now want to offer the same support to Sunny.

We urge all club supporters, regardless of SHL, HA or SDHL, to play Sanni – Hakala as a change rhyme in the 23rd minute of the match, Sanni's jersey number, in your next home match.

We at LTC stand behind you and support you on your journey, Sunny!
