IFK Göteborg’s Håkan Mild on fan demands: ‘I’ve been through worse’

Gothenburg. IFK Göteborgsklacken booed and demanded the resignation of coach Mikael Stäher.

Answer from Håkan Mild:

– Stahre has our confidence. IFK Göteborg does a lot of good things that make it good, says club manager.

After a humiliating 0-4 home defeat against IFK Norrköping and elimination from the Swedish Cup, several hundred Blåvitt fans remained in the Bravida Arena after the final whistle.

They booed the players and managers who had come to thank the fans and sang about the passing of Mikael Staher.

Club manager Håkan Mild came forward with his boss Richard Berkling and they had to take the abuse.

Mostly listen

– frustrated supporters disappointed. I mostly listen. It was hugely disappointing but still manageable. Håkan Mild says I’ve been through much worse.

What didn’t work?

– It’s complete, we can’t play defensively and offensively together. It is widespread. They do not fit each other. Everyone must take responsibility together.

How do you see the parts where you’re most responsible, like recruiting players?

– I think we have succeeded well in recruiting players, with good players. Then they will also get into it. We managed to bring in good players.

How does the club’s confidence in Mikael Steher look like?

– Stahre has our confidence. He’s our coach.

Is he coaching the team in the Allsvenskan premiere?

– He’s our coach today. A lot can happen in the world. I don’t see anything else today. I can’t guarantee I’ll be at the premiere, says Mild.

How do you feel about to turn it all around IFK Gothenburg?

– Maybe I need more time there, I’m just as frustrated as the others. We’ve had a longer period with results that we want to be better. As always, we have to analyze and decide how to proceed.

So it turns out

So what are you seeing from this pre-season that makes you think you’re on your way to turning things around?

– IFK Göteborg is doing many very good things, but at the moment it is not working on the field. It works in a lot of other places. Sooner or later it will make it good.

like?

– We have a good academy, we have a good women’s team, we have a good structure in our sales and in audiences and events. We have a good scouting process, we have an organization that goes to work every day and breathes professionalism,” says Mild to Sportbladet.

Mikael Staher says of supporters’ demands for his departure:

We were rightly booed. It’s windy at a big club like IFK Göteborg. I know there is pressure around the coach at this club. It’s my job.

Under no circumstances, at any point in my career, will I say I don’t play. There is no possibility. Stahre says I’m particularly well-suited to being an elite trainer and to handle pressure.
