IFK Göteborg’s new acquisition Adam Carlin ends in derby battle with Pontus Wernbloom

Torrevieja. Adam Carlin, 22, hasn’t even trained with IFK Gothenburg.

Then it ended up in an entertaining derby match between Pontus Fernbloom and Eric Friberg.

– I was probably at Friberg at my Degerfors debut, says Carlin.

There was barely time to dry the ink on the newly signed contract with IFK Göteborg for former Degerforce player Adam Karelin when he became – involuntarily – the main figure in a verbal battle between footballers Pontus Wernblom and Erik Freiberg, captain of Häcken last year during the golden year but now retired. as a player and instead looking for the champion team.

As a scout, Friberg reportedly doesn’t have any warm thoughts about Blåvitt’s latest acquisition.

— (Freberg) specifically said they “wouldn’t take Carlin with the tongs,” says Pontus Wernbloom on the latest episode of the Hunden, Katten, and Glassen podcast.

“Maybe it was a chainsaw.”

In the first episode last week, before Carlin had time to finish with IFK Göteborg, Wernbloom, Mattias Bjärsmyr and Tobias Hysén spoke very positively about the former Degerfors midfielder.

– Friberg had a good laugh when we talked with Carlén as we did in the last episode… This is the year we have to punch holes in the balloon heads on Volvo Island. They became unbearable, Wernbloom says on the podcast.

When Sportbladet speaks briefly with Adam Carlin himself, he gets a good laugh at the brawl that’s going on around him.

– This is the first time I’ve heard this in detail. Carlin says it might have been posting… I laugh about that.

Does it depend on what type of player you are?

– Yes, maybe Häcken has a good midfield. Maybe they want other types of players. I don’t really know what he means, he says with a wry smile.

Do you have any history with Häcken?

My debut in Degerfors was against Hacken. Maybe I was on Friberg for a bit then… (Laughter).

– It will be fun to play derby and big matches. Rivalry meetings are fun when things heat up. I look forward to that.

Did you have more options before deciding on IFK in Gothenburg?

– Yes, I had options in Sweden and abroad, but it feels right. It’s a big club in Sweden and it’s the right step for me to grow.

– I was in Kamratgården and met Håkan Mild and Mikael Stahre a month or so ago and got a good picture of the club and what they wanted to do. It sounds like an exciting investment that I want to be a part of. I feel I can contribute to this effort.

Where do you compete?

– I was a midfielder all the time at Degerforce. When I met Stahre and Mild, they said they also see me as a centre-back. They think I have a good footing in terms of preparation, speed and strength in my fencing game. I think I can contribute to both positions, says Adam Carlin.
