Injuries Andreas Magyar and Tilda Johansson stopped the toilet

Tilda Johansson was the youngest in the long jump World Cup last time around, and Andreas Almgren did one of the best races ever for a Swedish distance runner last winter.

It is now clear that both will miss the World Cup in Eugene due to injuries.

– Johansson says it hurts so bad to jump.

The World Cup qualifying period is drawing to a close and over the next two weeks a large number of Swedish athletes are striving beyond qualification limits and ranking points (see Sportbladet’s review of the situation here).

But injuries make up for her many potential World Cup jumps. Merav Bahtta She told last weekend that she had just suffered a minor tendon rupture, so she will likely have to say no to her already designated World Cup spot.

Now Sportbladet can tell you that it also applies to the promise of length Tilda Johansson and the middle interval Andreas Magyar.

Tilda Johansson was part of Sweden’s squad for the World Cup already in Doha 2019 when she was just 18 years old, then the youngest long jumper in the entire field.

“Back to square one”

Since then, heavier years have followed. She cut the season off early last year for knee surgery but felt high last winter jumping 6.55.

Pre-season went very well but then I did a long workout and got hit in the heel that didn’t want to heal, she said.

The heel pad simply broke and then it comes down to patience.

– Not a serious injury, but jumping hurts terribly. When you see everyone starting and competing, it’s so boring.

She thought her heels had improved, strapped her foot and drove in Greece on June 1. But when the adrenaline subsided and the duct tape was pulled out, the pain returned.

– She’s back to square one, severe bruising. So we’ve now put the WC idea aside and are trying to get some competition to be able to qualify for the European Commission so we’ll see if that’s possible, she says.

How do you feel about it?

– It feels so boring, when everything is working fine, shit comes along.

“Spring Strollage”

Andreas Algren set a world time of 7.34 in the 3000m last winter, breaking his own Swedish record. Then the Swedish record of 5,000 meters and the last place in the water cycle seemed to be a great opportunity. Instead, it was damaged again.

– He suffers from a troublesome spring accompanied by diseases and defects, the last of which is a simple tear in the back. I’m running and running now but not any faster, unfortunately. He wrote recently in a text message to Sportbladet, I am taking it day in and day out and aiming to be in good shape in the European Championships.

Etihad captain Kajsa Bergqvist:

– It’s so boring. Frustrating for Andreas, there is a lot of work behind him and he is pulled over over and over again.
