“Anna Zlatan” could take on a Grand Slam at Guldbaggegala
Jag är Zlatan is nominated for six awards at Guldbaggegala this evening.
The Swedish soccer star isn’t there, but fingers crossed from home.
– We messed around a bit and he was very happy about it, says director Jens Sjögren.
The Swedish film has had a strong year behind it, and actors, screenwriters and many more were honored at the annual Guldbaggegalan festival at Circus in Stockholm.
“Jag är Zlatan”, which depicts the upbringing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his unexpected journey in the world of football, has been nominated for a total of six awards.
Film director Jens Sjögren, 46, paused for an Aftonbladet interview microphone on the red carpet before the ceremony.
– I am very happy and proud. I’ve been nominated as Best Director and I feel it’s an award I deserve, says Jens Sjogren with a smile.
The most watched movie of the year
“Jag är Zlatan” became the most watched Swedish film of the year in cinemas in 2022 with over 200,000 moviegoers.
Jens Sjögren feels good about being welcomed abroad, too.
– In Italy, more than 350,000 have been seen in a few months, which is not strange, but overall it was a positive project.
Don’t take Zlatan with you.
Do you have any contact with Zlatan?
– not much. We messed around a bit and he was very happy about it. I was asked at the screening at Filmhuset: Would you bring Zlatan with you? Sjögren says and continues:
– Don’t take Zlatan with you. Zlatan comes to Guldbaggen. But he was very encouraging and he is very happy for us.
