Malmö. The sale of beer and alcohol is prohibited in all stadiums during the Qatar World Cup.
It makes beer lover Jan Anderson angry.
– As a fan, I would have gone crazy, says the captain of the national team.
Two days before the premiere of the World Cup, the announcement came that the organizing country, Qatar, would stop selling beer in stadiums.
Sportbladet asked the captain of the national team Jan Anderson – Known connoisseur of beer and peanuts – what he thinks of the decision.
– I can say this: if I were in favor, I would be crazy. Obviously you should be able to have a beer if you are going to watch a football match.
– It’s absolutely incredible, Jan Anderson says offended, but with a wry smile. I must say so.
The last time the captain of the national team said on Monday that a season that saw many losses for the national team affected him more as a coach than as an ordinary person.
– I’m the same old man. I eat peanuts, drink my beer and watch track and football. In terms of work, it was difficult, he said at the time.
Now he explains:
– You shouldn’t appear like that … Yes, I love beer, I admit it. But this is not the most important thing. But obviously if you’re going to watch a World Cup final where you can’t have a beer – it’s completely incomprehensible to me.
– It just shows what Qatar is all about. It is something that has never happened before. It’s another thing we’re doing there right now, says Janne Andersson.
For the fans, there will be non-alcoholic beer in the stadiums.
Team leader Victor Nilsson Lindelof received a follow-up question on the same topic.
– If you go to a World Cup or a sporting event, you should, of course, be able to have a beer. Manchester United’s centre-back says I keep it that simple.
