Malmö. Pontus Jansson made it to the national team – but Jan Andersson did not give up.

In August last year, Pontus Jansson announced that he was leaving the national team. The center back also criticized the national team for the way it was treated during the European Commission.
Federation captain Jan Andersson has tried several times to persuade Jansson to return to the national team, but so far he has been refused.

But Anderson did not give up. At the national team training in Malmö, Jansson was present and then exchanged a few words with the captain.
– Work in progress. Great that “Ponne” was here today. We’ve had a great relationship over the years. We’ll see what happens in the future, but I didn’t really give up. I have a lot of respect for his reasoning to be home with family and get his energy back during the national team breaks, while at the same time maybe there’s a desire somewhere, I hope,” says Anderson.
When the national team captain then receives more questions about Jansson, he backs off somewhat.
– The processing in progress is extremely exaggerated. But I mentioned to him that I would contact him. Since he made the decision, I’ve called and spoken to him twice. I will try again because I think it is so good.
