A knee injury kept her off the field for 2.5 months.
Now that Jelena Shankovic is back, she has revealed that she played matches with the injury, without even knowing it.
– So it was like a shock, she says.

– But then I played another match with the national team and a match here without knowing that I was injured. So it was a bit shocking, she says, continuing:
– It was difficult because I played as usual. It was shocking at first but then it was just accepting it and doing the rehab I had to do to get back stronger.

FC Rosengård was very calm about the injury and did not want to go into more detail regarding the knee.
Initially, both the club and star of the Serbia national team hoped that she would miss only a few singles matches. This did not happen.
– I didn’t think it would take that long, so it was a little difficult. Especially when you want to come back early but it takes time.
Shankovic has relatively survived injuries earlier in her career and admits it has been difficult to start the season with rehab.
– It was really heavy. It’s hard to check the side when you’re injured and you can’t help the team. Everyone is playing, the season has started and you are just gone, she says and continues:
I don’t feel satisfied but the only possibility was to work hard and come back as soon as possible. It was a tough time for me, but I really appreciate being back and I’m so happy.
Create a dream goal
Now it’s back again. After 2.5 months.
The 26-year-old jumped to Skånederbyt against Kristianstad last Friday. A few days later, she fought her first match from the start in the victory over Kev Orebro and stopped achieving the dream goal.
– I’m really happy because I can play again, play from the start, win and get three points.
How does the body feel like this the day after playing 75 minutes?
– I’m tired but as usual after the match. After 75 minutes of being absent for 2.5 months, I’m feeling down but feeling fine.
How far are you from your top level?
– I think I’m getting close. With so many matches out there, I think it will come quickly.
There will be a lot of matches. Already on Friday, an away match against Eskilstuna awaits and next Thursday Rosengard will play the cup final at home against PK Haken.
