Jens Fjellström returned to TV4 and CMore – leaving Discovery

Jens Fellstrom, 56, is leaving Discovery.

Instead, the football expert returns to C More and is now reunited with Lasse Granqvist.

– It feels good to be home again, he says.

He is one of the most popular football experts in Sweden and has worked in the media industry since the early 2000s.

After two years at the Discovery direction with an Allsvenskan focus on football, Jens Fjellström chose to return to C More and TV4, where he is now reunited with former gunslinger Lasse Granqvist.

Not that I didn’t enjoy myself in any way. I had a really great time on Discovery, so I’m a little sad to leave, he says.

Long history together

Fjellström battled with Granqvist within the TV4 group for 15 years before leaving in 2016.

– Tommy Ostrom I have a long history and I’m enjoying it incredibly. But with Lasse I have a longer history. Basically it will be commentary and a large part of it will be with him. A reunion with Lasse brings a golden feature into being. It feels good to be at home. Far away, he says, but the best is in the house.

The 56-year-old will now work on C More football rights with the Champions League and Championship, the European Championships in Germany in 2024 and the World Cup in North America two years later. This is as long as the contract on the channel is extended.

Champions League for the first time

Jens Fjellström himself says that the main reasons for change are the ability to work on these tasks.

– The Champions League is a right I’ve never worked with, and when I see these matches it’s just ‘fuck’. I want to be there and I will understand that now. You have to follow and be inspired by the best players and the best teams. Then I willingly admitted that the second reason was that I had missed the tournaments. I think it’s fun to work with leagues and now I have the chance to do that.

In addition to his television stint, Västerbottningen, originally from Umeå, has been an assistant coach to Tony Gustafsson on the Australian women’s national team for some time now. Next summer, Matildas is going to play toilet in the house.

There they are included in the same group as Ireland, Nigeria and Canada.

Nine weeks in Australia

Another part of the reason he returned to C More is that the combination of the best in international football and coaching work is a better match.

– That’s how it is. I know I’m going to be in Australia for nine weeks, or something, during my WC next summer. It was clearly not optimal to combine with Allsvenskan. It’s hell to combine the Champions League with that. A little less missions and trips will only benefit me because I can simultaneously visit and visit the players we have in England or France.

TV4 and C More’s Head of Sports Erik Westberg is delighted to be joining Fjellström.

– We are very satisfied and excited to welcome Jens back to TV4 and C More. Jen’s knowledge and experience, along with his passion and keen eye for football, will add a lot to our broadcasts, says Erik Westberg, Head of Sports at TV4 and C More.
