Suddenly we got a life cue from Joel Lundqvist after the summer.
The Frölunda legend appears with her website and official Instagram profile.
I’m finally done, but now I have so many exciting things going on, says the 41-year-old on social media.
Joel Lundqvist has signed a new contract, now with Next Level Group.
The management company was founded five years ago by Anders Sedhamry and Peter “Voba” Forsberg.
In collaboration with them, Joel Lundqvist will serve, among other things, as a lecturer on the topic of Winning Leadership.
– It’s so much fun to be part of this team. Foppa has always been my hero and idol since a young age. “Foppa” is “Foppa”. Now I’m back from my summer hibernation. I’ve been thinking about everything possible over the spring and summer about what direction to go and what I want to do in the future, says Joel Lundqvist.
He promises more news during the fall
What did you decide to do next?
– I have a lot of exciting things going on in the fall. I can’t take everything here and now, it has to come later. I want to manage my time in a new way and do interesting things, I want to meet new people and learn new things. Something like social media, I didn’t have time for that before. Lectures within teams and leadership will also be a new track. Then there are more things. This is a new part of my life, it is a new life that needs to be formed.
Will there be more hockey-related missions coming in the fall?
– we will see. I keep everything open. We have to take some time to see what is happening and what is not. You have now taken the first step to focus forward after what has been done.
What will you focus on in your role as a lecturer?
– I have 23 years of elite ice hockey career, where I learned a lot and got my dream. It will be about what I think works in leadership, and what works and what doesn’t work within a group in a winning environment. I’m going to highlight important components that can be used in business and other things to make you feel like a good bunch. It’s what I’ve lived with all these years and want to inspire others with.
“It was exhausting”
How was the summer otherwise after making the decision to stop playing ice hockey?
– As I learned, there were processes in the brain to deal with after the decision, with whatever comes up and what you want to do. It was about direction and goals. I lived very boxed in and focused on one thing hockey. Now it’s more than just a blank piece of paper. I guess it was a little mental handling anyway. In May-June I had to work mentally on myself. It was a change from having such a clear picture of purpose and goal setting all these years. I had to adjust to what I wanted and where I was going, it was honestly exhausting. I met and talked to a lot of people to get inspiration. I couldn’t sit back and enjoy. As soon as I landed, I felt motivated and motivated.
How do you feel about the fact that ice drills and practice matches have now begun and that Frölunda, according to tradition, was in Strömstad this weekend?
– I didn’t know how you would feel. However, confident in my decision last spring, I felt prepared. It only intensified, and I had no desire to play hockey at all. It’s a lot because I know what’s behind it and what it takes to prepare for a long season, and what it takes away from you as a person. I will always love hockey, but I felt done as a player. So it’s good to feel now. Of course, I will miss the nerve in important matches and eliminations, it will never be replaced, and it will just be acceptance and happiness for what I went through.

He ran into his former teammates
Will we get you to Scandinavia when Frölunda plays this winter?
– I will definitely come, but we’ll see when it’s convenient. I am here and now, just like I was a gamer. I haven’t even checked the schedule and know when they’re going to play the first game. Frölunda is still a big part of my life, I can’t just cut it straight out and will follow them. A lot has happened on the team, and it will be exciting to see what happens to it. It will be interesting to follow. It was a bit funny when I was dropping my daughter off to athletics yesterday and then I ran into them when they were packing the bus to go to the game against HV71 in Jönköping. I think it was important to me and them that I didn’t run out there in their environment, I was just indoors and mum a few times over the spring. You have now taken a step out of that bubble.
Joel Lundqvist has been captain during 14 of his 20 seasons in Frolunda.
There have been three WC gold medals, four SM medals, and four CHL titles as a player.
Max Friberg took over as captain at the refurbished Frölunda.
